Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive PNG, Port Moresby.
On arrival in Papua New Guinea’s Capital City, Port Moresby, you will be transferred to your hotel to relax and enjoy a free afternoon.
Day 2 – Port Moresby to Goroka
We will fly to Goroka the Capital of the Eastern Highland’s Province, where you will be transferred to your hotel and a guided tour of Goroka, to the village of Asaro to meet the local ‘Mud Man’ can be arranged. Overnight at Asaro Eco-Tourism Guest House.
Day 3. Full Day – Cultural Activities
After Breakfast depart for Asaro Village for 5 plus different cultural activities. Includes village life experience, Mudman show, Mokomoko Show, Hiking/Nature Walk, taste local prepare lunch (MUMU) and visit local Artifact market. 5pm leave village for hotel.
Day 4 – Goroka to Keglsuglo by private vehicle.
Today we will travel by local vehicle to the town of Kundiawa in Simbu Province. Here we will stop for lunch and continue our journey onto Keglsuglo.
Kundiawa is the gate-way to your adventure ahead, which starts with an excursion to the Sike Wake Cave.
You will over night at Keglsuglo Lodge in male/female only bunkrooms. Here you will meet your local guides and potters who will accompany you for the next few days.
Day 5 – Trek to Mt Wilhelm Base Camp
This morning, we undertake our first half-day trek. Initially under the jungle canopy and leading out into at swamp fern lined valley, our climb will be alongside a waterfall to the Piunde and Aunde Lakes, the Base Camp of Mt Wilhelm. Here we will rest overnight in ‘A’ frame accommodation and relax while we acclimatise to the altitude.
The beautiful cirque lakes at Wilhelm, formed when glacial ice sheets covered PNG in the last ice age. The only Permanent ice fields left on the island are in the Star Mountains in West Papua
Day 6 – Summit Mt Wilhelm (4,500m) the highest Mountain in Papua New Guinea-return to Keglsuglo Lodge
(The peak is also known as Eduwara Kombuglu in the local Kuman language).
Day 7 & 8 – will spend to climb to the top and back to the Base Camp.
Overnight at Base Camp.
Day 9. Base Camp to Kundiawa – River Side Hotel.
After Breakfast Trek back to Kegesuglo (3hrs trek) and hope on the Vehicle for Kundiawa. Overnight at River Side Hotel.
Day 10. Full Day – Skeleton Village with 5 different cultural activities.
After breakfast depart for Midima village for Skeleton show with 5 plus cultural activities.
Afternoon leave Midima village for Mt Hagen for Tari Huli Wigman. Overnight at Kuri Lodge.
Day 11. Full Day – Tari Huli Wigman show with Local prepared Luncu – MUMU.
After breakfast depart for Awi village for Tari Huli Wigman show and you will see full demonstration of preparing Mumu lunch.
Day 12. Transfer: Mt Hagen to Port Moresby.
You will meet guide at the airport and transfer to Wellness lodge. After check in, you will do City tour.
Day 13. International flight for next your destination.
